Key Team Members

Oscar is the founder of Design Engineers. He started this practice in 2022 and is managing our business. He completed his Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree at Wuhan University in 2008. In September 2008, he moved to New Zealand for further study and completed his engineering bachelor's degree at Unitec in 2011. He completed his master's degree while working with several Auckland-based structural consulting engineering companies between 2012 and 2016 as a structural engineer. He primarily worked on medium-rise residential, commercial, and public building projects. In 2016, he moved into the façade engineering industry and worked on a lot of remarkable large-scale landmark building projects nationwide between 2016 and 2021 with a great reputation. He received his Chartered Professional Engineer recognition at the end of 2021, and he also obtained his New Zealand Glass Standard Advisor registration status in 2020. His practice area is structural engineering and façade engineering. He started our business in early 2022 and set up our office in North Shore.

Oscar has worked on the following large-scale projects in the past 10 years:

2015, Christchurch Justice & Emergency Services Precinct, contract value $300 million. Oscar was involved in providing technical solutions to the glazed façade, including glazed curtain wall and featured louvre engineering design.
2016, Christchurch Burwood Hospital Redevelopments, contract value $21.5 million. Oscar was involved in providing façade technical solutions for glazed curtain wall, windows, roof lights, and interior glazing features.
2018, 25-Storey City Garden Apartments Building, contract value $30 million. This building has been suffering from weather-tightness issues. The project scope involves the refurbishment of the exterior façade. Oscar was involved in providing sound façade engineering design solutions for the proposed glazed curtain façade from ground to roof penthouse.
2019, 9-Storey Auckland City Mission Building (12,000m2), which represents the biggest project yet in their 100+ years history of helping Auckland’s homeless and most vulnerable. Oscar was involved in providing façade technical solutions for glazed canopy, glazed skylights, windows, and other architectural featured facades.
2020, 10-Storey Auckland University Carlaw Park Student Accommodation, which is a 10-storey hollow-core shaped building containing 203 apartments with a total of 906 bedrooms and further related communal student services. Oscar was involved in the design of glazed curtain wall façades, glazed windows, featured corner louvres, and other architectural façade features.

In his free time, Oscar enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in outdoor activities with friends.
