Celebrating a rich history of over 100 years at Christchurch’s Hagley Park Courts, the Christchurch Netball Centre stands poised to redefine the landscape as the new epicenter for netball activities in the region. Nestled within the sprawling expanse of Ngā Puna Wai, this expansive 10,050m2 facility transcends its singular focus on netball, evolving into a dynamic multisport arena. Purposefully designed to cater to diverse athletic pursuits, including netball, volleyball, futsal, korfball, and gymnastics, the center emerges as a symbol of sports diversity and a catalyst for vibrant community engagement.
More than a sports facility, the center is destined to become the pivotal meeting hub for the Canterbury sporting community, intricately weaving together the historical and cultural significance of the area with the vibrant present. The name Ngā Puna Wai, meaning “many springs water,” resonates deeply with Ngāi Tahu, bearing profound cultural value as a historical meeting place for Māori to connect and collaborate. In its contemporary role, the center serves as a unifying force, drawing individuals from every corner of the city and the broader community. Its impact extends beyond the realm of sports, playing a vital role in enhancing overall community well-being.
